The Association of College & Research Libraries defines information literacy as “the set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning" (Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education). In other words, you are able to determine what information will be needed and have the ability to locate, access, evaluate, use and communicate information effectively and responsibly.

While the course is directed at the research process for designers, the research methods and tools covered are relevant to all.
