Tips on how to search for the resources you need!

Preparing for your search

Before beginning your search for resources on the SUSS Library website, you may want to take a moment to develop a search strategy. This strategy will help you reflect on your research to improve the relevancy of your searches.

Here are some ways you can develop your search strategy:

  1. define research topic
    • write down the research question clearly
    • brainstorm some of the ideas and themes pertaining topic
  2. identify keywords and phrases
    • list all the keywords and key phrases.
    • use a Thesaurus to look up variation of words/phrases.
  3. determine the scope of research
    • consider the time frame of your research
    • consider the type of resources you need lookup
    • identify where to search for these resources
